Department of Computer Science

Introduction

The Gulbarga University has started the MCA course in the year 1990 in the Department of Mathematics, under the UGC-DOE joint manpower training programme in Computer Science with the sanctioned intake of 30. The UGC has provided the financial support and also the posts of 1 Professor, 2 Readers 3 Lecturers and 2 Technical Assistants (Vide UGC letter No F.2 - 4 /91 (T-II) dated July 1991). The Post Graduate Department of Studies and Research in Computer Science was established in 2001 (Vide Notification No.GUG/ADM/Statute/2000-01/2900 dated 5/15-01-2001). The department now offers MCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science), and PGDCA courses. The MCA course is approved by AICTE with sanctioned intake of 45.

The LOGO Statement

The Logo symbolizes the endeavor of the University to nourish youth with knowledge - the elixir of life the nectar, so as to enable them grows, keeping pace with modern development and socio-economic change. The book in the logo symbolize the source of knowledge. The stone chariot represents the mobility and stability required in the learning process.  The stone chariot, the flagship of the world heritage monument at Hampi of the Vijayanagar Empire, also represents glorious art, architecture and culture heritage of this region.
